During development, the SAM prototypes were thoroughly tested in laboratory conditions, during special stress tests of firefighter suits and in practical deployment, for instance:
During these tests was verified measurement of body parameters of tested subjects (2 members of the firefighters team) with full equipment during high physical load in various ambient climatic conditions (humidity, temperature).
The tested subjects were also equipped with many additional sensors and were under medical supervision. Results were then analysed, which led to determination of recommended alarm limits for under-suit temperature and humidity.
The SAM device was inserted to a breast pocket of a firefighter suit which was then exposed to extreme temperatures for short time periods in a testing container. The goal of this testing was to check proper measurement of high ambient temperatures and primarily to verify endurance of the system.
One of the competitors in this extreme competition of physical fitness of firefighters was equipped with the SAM system. Verified was proper operation of the whole system during simulated deployment in action and attention was paid to whether the device hinders the wearer anyhow during various activities.
Flashover container is a set of elements assembled into a system which simulates real conditions during fire in indoor environment and is used for training of firefigher units.
During one of the tranings the firefighters were equipped with SAM units. After the test logs from the units were evaluated.
